Clinical Application
Designed for indirect laryngoscopy and routine ENT examination, this 28 mm mirror head provides a reliable reflective surface for visualizing the oropharynx, hypopharynx and laryngeal inlet. It is used during preoperative assessment, bedside airway evaluation, vocal cord inspection and foreign body localization when direct line-of-sight is limited. In clinical use the mirror is commonly warmed briefly to reduce condensation and used in conjunction with a tongue depressor or compatible handle to position and stabilize the view.
Design & Configuration
The Fig.9 pattern is a standard laryngeal mirror style; the 28 mm circular head balances field of view and intraoral access, offering a larger reflective area than smaller heads while remaining maneuverable in the oral cavity. Supplied without a handle, the mirror head allows facilities to fit their preferred reusable or disposable handle systems and simplifies inventory management by stocking heads and handles separately. The low-profile frame supports consistent positioning during indirect visualization.
Instrument Specifications
- Mirror diameter: 28 mm
- Pattern / model: Fig.9
- Configuration: mirror head only (no handle)
- Primary use: indirect laryngoscopy, oral/pharyngeal inspection
- Construction: metal frame with polished glass reflective surface
- Reusable: intended for sterilization and multiple uses
Material & Construction
Frame is finished in corrosion-resistant stainless steel holding a precision-ground glass reflective surface. The glass is mounted flush in the frame to provide a clean reflective plane and facilitate cleaning. The head-only format reduces replacement cost when handles remain serviceable. The assembly is compatible with standard sterilization processes for reusable ENT instruments.
