Clinical Application
This instrument is used for indirect laryngoscopy and targeted inspection of the oropharynx and larynx. The 14 mm mirror head provides a compact, focused field of view useful when visualizing the vocal folds, epiglottis, and posterior pharynx in patients with limited oral opening or when a smaller mirror improves access and patient tolerance. It is commonly used in ENT and voice clinics, pre‑operative airway assessments, and bedside examinations to confirm mucosal lesions, mobility of the vocal cords, or to assist with locating superficial foreign bodies.
Design & Configuration
The Figure 2 pattern reflects a traditional laryngeal mirror geometry optimized for stability and control during indirect laryngoscopy. The small, round 14 mm head reduces gag reflex and facilitates insertion into narrow oral cavities while providing sufficient reflective area for direct visualization. An attached handle gives secure manual control for fine positional adjustments and one‑handed operation during examination or gentle retraction of soft tissues.
