Clinical Application
Designed for controlled elevation of the periosteum and soft-tissue reflection, this elevator is suitable for general surgery, orthopedics, oral and maxillofacial, ENT and select plastic surgery procedures. The narrow 8 mm blade allows precise undermining of periosteum and mucoperiosteal flaps in confined anatomic sites, while the 20 cm length provides reach for deeper exposures without excessive hand intrusion. Typical uses include creating and developing surgical flaps, exposing bone surfaces, blunt dissection adjacent to bone, and preparing bone beds for fixation or grafting.
Design & Configuration
The instrument’s straight shaft geometry delivers direct control and leverage during elevation maneuvers. A slim, spatula-like blade provides a balance between a thin leading edge for atraumatic blunt dissection and a broad face to support and reflect tissue. The 8 mm blade width is selected for precision work in narrow fields where larger periosteal elevators would risk excessive tissue disruption.
Instrument Specifications
- Pattern: Langenbeck periosteal elevator
- Blade width: 8 mm
- Overall length: 20 cm
- Blade shape: flat, spatula-like tip for controlled periosteal elevation
- Primary applications: periosteal elevation, flap reflection, blunt bone exposure
- Construction: surgical stainless steel; reusable
Material & Construction
Forged from surgical-grade stainless steel to withstand repeated use and standard sterilization processes. The blade profile is ground to a precise edge geometry for predictable tissue interaction while the shaft is balanced for tactile feedback and instrument control. Reusable construction supports routine autoclave sterilization and long-term clinical service.
Quality & Compliance
Manufactured by FDA-registered OEM facilities and produced under strict quality control standards.
Brand Comparison
Comparable in form and function to equivalent instruments offered by major US medical suppliers.
