Clinical Application
Designed for intestinal and abdominal surgery, this Kocher intestinal forceps provides a firm, locking grip on dense tissues such as bowel wall, mesentery, fascia and necrotic tissue during resection, mobilization, and temporary hemostasis. The instrument is useful for isolating bowel segments, securing tissue edges during anastomosis or resection, and holding tough connective tissue where a secure, maintained clamp is required. Care should be taken when using on viable bowel to minimize crush injury.
Design & Configuration
The curved configuration facilitates approach along the convex surfaces of the bowel and deep operative fields, improving line-of-sight and access in abdominal cavities. A ratcheted locking shank maintains consistent clamping pressure without continuous manual force, freeing the assistant or surgeon to perform other tasks. Ring handles and a box-lock joint provide precise control and tactile feedback during placement and removal.
