Designed for percutaneous skeletal fixation, this trocar-point K‑wire is used to stabilize bone fragments, provisionally fix fractures, and establish anchor points for external fixation or skeletal traction. The 1.2 mm diameter provides a balance of rigidity and minimal soft-tissue profile suitable for small-bone applications such as hand, wrist, foot, and select long-bone provisional fixation.
Design & Configuration
The sharp trocar point facilitates direct cortical penetration without the need for a separate drill in many cases, allowing rapid percutaneous placement. The smooth, solid shaft minimizes soft-tissue catching and eases advancement and removal. At 160 mm length the pin provides adequate working length for common pin-to-bone purchase and external fixation construct requirements while permitting controlled protrusion for bending or clamping.
