Clinical Application
Used for percutaneous skeletal fixation and provisional stabilization of small to medium bone fragments in extremity and hand surgery. The trocar point geometry facilitates penetration of cortical bone for accurate positioning when establishing provisional fixation, skeletal traction, or when serving as a guide pin for cannulated screws. Common indications include metacarpal, phalangeal, distal radius, and other diaphyseal or metaphyseal applications where a slender, rigid fixation element is required.
Design & Configuration
The trocar point tip is a sharply tapered cutting profile designed to minimize skiving and reduce insertion torque when crossing cortex. The 1.2 mm diameter provides a balance of bending stiffness and minimal soft-tissue profile, while the 120 mm length allows access to deeper segments and external fixation constructs. The straight, unnotched shaft permits smooth advancement and controlled withdrawal; it also functions well as a temporary positional pin or as a guide for cannulated instruments.
