Clinical Application

This trocar-point Kirschner wire is intended for percutaneous skeletal fixation and provisional stabilization during orthopedic and trauma procedures. Its 1.0 x 140 mm profile is suited to small-bone and soft-tissue–sparing applications such as hand, wrist, foot and pediatric procedures, as well as temporary fixation and traction assemblies. It can be used to hold reduction while definitive fixation is applied or as component pins in external fixation constructs.

Design & Configuration

The trocar point geometry provides a sharply tapered, cutting tip that facilitates direct cortical entry with controlled penetration and reduced tendency to skive on hard cortical surfaces. The smooth, solid shaft minimizes soft-tissue drag and allows easy advancement and removal through percutaneous incisions. The 140 mm overall length offers working reach for deeper or through-and-through fixation while the 1.0 mm diameter balances ease of insertion with adequate bending resistance for provisional stabilization.

Instrument Specifications

  • Instrument type: Kirschner wire (trocar point pin)
  • Tip: Trocar point (sharp cutting tip for cortical entry)
  • Size: 1.0 x 140 mm
  • Configuration: Smooth, solid pin for percutaneous use
  • Typical uses: Provisional fixation, skeletal traction, external fixation pin
  • Reusable: Yes — designed for reprocessing

Material & Construction

Manufactured from medical-grade stainless steel to provide corrosion resistance and the strength required for skeletal fixation. Constructed as a solid, smooth-shaft pin with a precision-formed trocar point to ensure predictable insertion characteristics. Reusable and compatible with standard sterilization and reprocessing workflows in surgical facilities.

Quality & Compliance

Manufactured by FDA-registered OEM facilities and produced under strict quality control standards.

Brand Comparison

Comparable in form and function to equivalent instruments offered by major US medical suppliers.
