Clinical Application
This 2.0 x 60 mm Kirschner wire is intended for percutaneous skeletal fixation and provisional stabilization in a variety of orthopedic and trauma procedures. It is commonly used for temporary pinning during fracture reduction, small-bone fixation in the hand, wrist and foot, provisional fixation during osteotomies, and as guide/pilot pins for cannulated implants under fluoroscopic control. The slender 2.0 mm diameter balances bending resistance with minimal bone disruption, making it suitable for fine fixation tasks.
Design & Configuration
The trocar-point insertion tip provides a cutting geometry designed to penetrate cortical bone with controlled resistance, facilitating accurate placement through soft tissue and periosteum. The opposite round end provides a smooth profile for handling, bending or engagement with manual driving tools. The 60 mm length offers sufficient working length for most small-bone and periarticular applications while minimizing excess exposed wire.
