Clinical Application
Designed for percutaneous skeletal fixation and provisional pinning, this 2.0 x 100 mm lancet-point Kirschner wire provides rigid cortical purchase for fracture reduction, fragment control, and temporary fixation during orthopedic, hand, foot, and pediatric procedures. Its diameter and length are commonly selected for fixation of small- to medium-sized bones and for use as transverse or longitudinal fixation elements in external fixation constructs or tension-band techniques.
Design & Configuration
The lancet point geometry gives a sharp, tapered leading edge to facilitate predictable cortical penetration with reduced tendency to skive. The smooth, straight shank minimizes soft-tissue drag and allows easy percutaneous insertion using manual drivers, power pin drivers, or pin guides. At 2.0 mm diameter the wire balances bending stiffness with minimal bone disruption, and the 100 mm length provides adequate working length for many standard fixation patterns while permitting trimming or bending as required by the procedure.
Instrument Specifications
- Diameter: 2.0 mm
- Length: 100 mm
- Tip: Lancet (sharp, tapered) point for cortical entry
- Shank: Smooth, straight pin suitable for percutaneous use
- Intended use: Temporary/permanent skeletal fixation and provisional stabilization
Material & Construction
Manufactured from surgical-grade stainless steel to provide the tensile strength and corrosion resistance required for orthopedic pinning applications. Smooth single-piece construction reduces surface irregularities that can increase soft-tissue irritation during insertion and removal.
Quality & Compliance
Manufactured by FDA-registered OEM facilities and produced under strict quality control standards.
Brand Comparison
Comparable in form and function to equivalent instruments offered by major US medical suppliers.
