Clinical Application

Curved Kelly‑Rankin hemostatic forceps are designed for atraumatic clamping and sustained occlusion of small- to medium-sized blood vessels during open surgical procedures. Their curved shaft permits controlled approach around structures and into deep or confined operative fields, making them useful in general surgery, gynecology, ENT, vascular procedures and minor procedures in outpatient settings. They are also commonly used for blunt dissection and for securing ligatures during vessel ligation.

Design & Configuration

The curved geometry reorients the jaws relative to the shaft, allowing the tips to be introduced along tissue planes while keeping the surgeon’s hand and instruments clear of the line of sight. Transverse serrations on the jaws provide a reliable grip on vessels and soft tissue without excessive crushing, and the ratcheted locking mechanism enables sustained closure at graduated tension for secure hemostasis. Finger rings and a box lock give tactile feedback and control during fine vessel handling and knot tying.
