Clinical Application

Preformed Jackson figure‑4 trachea tubes are used to maintain a secure airway and facilitate ventilation, suctioning and airway access during tracheostomy, laryngectomy and other head & neck procedures. The 8 mm size is commonly selected for adult airways where a balance of luminal diameter and surgical field management is required. The preformed geometry helps position the tube away from the operative field to reduce interference with surgical access while providing a stable conduit for anesthetic gas delivery and suction.

Design & Configuration

The figure‑4 preformed curvature directs the tube off the midline so it does not obstruct the surgeon’s view or instruments, and reduces the tendency to kink when the head and neck are manipulated. A smooth internal lumen facilitates suctioning and passage of adjuncts while the preformed shape provides predictable orientation and seating in the trachea, aiding secure positioning during intraoperative movement.
