Clinical Application
A 5 mm uterine dilator designed for controlled initial dilation of the cervical os and calibration of the endocervical canal. It is used to establish atraumatic access to the uterine cavity for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as dilation and curettage, hysteroscopy setup, IUD placement, and management of mild cervical stenosis. The 5 mm diameter is commonly used as an initial or incremental step in a sequential dilation set.
Design & Configuration
The instrument features a slim, tapered profile that eases atraumatic passage through the cervical canal. A smooth, rounded distal tip minimizes mucosal abrasion while the straight shaft geometry helps maintain alignment with the cervical axis, allowing the operator to apply steady radial expansion. The simple, single-piece construction provides direct tactile feedback during gradual dilation, facilitating controlled progression through sequential sizes.
