Clinical Application
This instrument is intended to obtain small tissue specimens for diagnostic histology. Its biopsy-style jaws provide a controlled bite and secure specimen retention, making it useful in procedures requiring precise tissue sampling in confined operative fields such as otolaryngology, oral/maxillofacial procedures and select general surgical applications.
Design & Configuration
The Schumacher Fig. 2 pattern features biopsy-oriented jaws engineered for a reliable grasp and clean excision of tissue. The 24 cm shaft length balances reach and tactile control for surgeons working in shallow to moderate-depth fields where a handheld, reusable instrument is preferred. The ergonomic handle and jaw geometry are developed to permit consistent jaw approximation and improved specimen retention during withdrawal.
