Clinical Application
This uterine dilator is used to achieve controlled cervical dilation and to establish atraumatic access to the uterine cavity. The 10 mm diameter is commonly used as a mid-range size during progressive dilation sequences for procedures such as dilation and curettage (D&C), diagnostic and operative hysteroscopy, endometrial biopsy, and intrauterine device (IUD) insertion. The instrument provides direct tactile feedback to the operator to help minimize cervical trauma during passage.
Design & Configuration
The single-piece, tapered cylindrical geometry delivers gradual radial expansion as it is advanced, allowing stepwise dilation when used in series with smaller or larger instruments. A smooth, rounded tip reduces focal pressure on the cervical canal and mucosa. Solid construction enhances axial control and tactile sensitivity, aiding the surgeon in gauging tissue resistance and depth of insertion.
