Clinical Application

This Bunnell-pattern tendon stripper is intended for atraumatic mobilization and harvest of superficial tendons during orthopaedic and sports-medicine procedures. It is commonly used to free hamstring tendons (semitendinosus, gracilis) for ACL reconstruction and to strip tendons during tendon transfer or repair procedures where a controlled, blunt dissection of the peritendinous tissue is required. The slender profile permits passage through small incisions while maintaining tactile feedback for the surgeon.

The tubular, tapered Bunnell configuration provides an atraumatic leading edge that slides along the tendon sheath to separate adhesions and connective tissue without cutting the tendon itself.
