Clinical Application
This medial blade is intended for use with the Caspar cervical retractor system to maintain midline exposure of the anterior cervical spine. It provides a stable retraction surface during procedures such as anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF), decompression and fusion procedures, and anterior cervical exposure for instrumented or non-instrumented interventions. The medial placement helps maintain the surgical corridor while allowing the surgeon to work between lateral blades or posts.
Design & Configuration
The blade's 70 x 24 mm footprint offers a defined contact area that helps distribute retraction forces along the midline soft tissues and anterior cervical surfaces. As a medial blade designed for the Caspar pattern, it is configured to interface with the system's screw/post arms to provide secure, reproducible positioning. The rectangular contact area and profile facilitate stable retraction without excessive bulk in the operative field, supporting visibility and instrument access.
Instrument Specifications
- Type: Medial blade for Caspar cervical retractor
- Size: 70 x 24 mm
- Intended use: Midline retraction for anterior cervical spine procedures
- Compatibility: Designed for Caspar-style screw/post retractor systems
- Construction: Titanium (TiT)
- Reusable and sterilizable
Material & Construction
Constructed from titanium (TiT), the blade provides a favorable strength-to-weight ratio and corrosion resistance appropriate for repeated surgical use. The material selection supports durability through standard hospital decontamination and sterilization processes and reduces instrument weight in the retractor assembly. The blade is supplied as a reusable surgical component intended for repeated processing per facility protocols.
Quality & Compliance
Manufactured by FDA-registered OEM facilities and produced under strict quality control standards.
Brand Comparison
Comparable in form and function to equivalent instruments offered by major US medical suppliers.
