Clinical Application
Designed to facilitate exposure of the internal mammary artery (IMA) and provide parasternal retraction during median sternotomy and coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). The narrower blade profile is intended for focused, atraumatic retraction along the IMA harvest plane, while the larger blade option provides broader chest-wall exposure when wider retraction is required. Proper use improves visualization of the thoracic internal mammary region and supports safe vessel harvesting.
Design & Configuration
Two blade size options allow the surgeon to select the most appropriate geometry for the operative field: a 100 x 20 mm profile for precise, localized retraction adjacent to the vessel and a 150 x 240 mm profile for wider sternal or chest-wall separation. The differing footprints help distribute retraction force over the desired contact area to reduce focal pressure on tissues and facilitate controlled exposure in both narrow parasternal spaces and broader chest openings.
Instrument Specifications
- Instrument type: Sternal retractor (IMA)
- Model: IMA Sternal Retractor
- Available blade dimensions: 100 x 20 mm; 150 x 240 mm
- Typical use: IMA exposure, parasternal retraction during median sternotomy / CABG
- Construction: Surgical-grade stainless steel; reusable
Material & Construction
Manufactured from corrosion-resistant surgical-grade stainless steel to withstand repeated reprocessing and sterilization cycles. The instrument is built for reusable clinical use, with smooth surfaces and contours to facilitate cleaning and reduce crevices where bioburden can accumulate.
Quality & Compliance
Manufactured by FDA-registered OEM facilities and produced under strict quality control standards.
Brand Comparison
