Clinical Application
This extension is designed to be used with a Hudson-style surgical brace to increase the working length and improve access in confined or deep operative sites. It enables clinicians to position manual-driven bits, taps, or drivers further into the wound or around anatomical obstacles without changing hand position at the brace handle. Typical applications include procedures in orthopedics, hand and wrist surgery, craniofacial work, ENT, and dental surgical settings where precise manual control and additional reach are required.
Design & Configuration
The component provides a secure mechanical coupling to the host brace, maintaining axial alignment and minimizing lateral play so torque and tactile feedback from the handpiece are preserved. The added length increases clearance between the operator's hand and the surgical field, facilitating ergonomic handling and line-of-sight to the target anatomy. The simple coupling geometry also allows rapid attachment and removal intraoperatively, supporting modular instrument workflows.
