Clinical Application
This periosteal raspatory is designed for controlled subperiosteal elevation, soft-tissue reflection and selective rasping or contouring of bone surfaces. It is commonly used in orthopedic, oral and maxillofacial, ENT, craniofacial and reconstructive procedures for lifting periosteum, exposing cortical bone, preparing bone edges and smoothing irregularities prior to fixation or graft placement. The narrow working end assists with access in confined surgical corridors and along curved anatomic contours.
Design & Configuration
The instrument combines a narrow 7 mm working end with a 16 cm overall length to balance reach and tactile control. The relatively slim tip provides precision when elevating periosteum in tight spaces, while the shaft length allows the surgeon to access deeper pockets without excessive hand intrusion into the field. The raspatory geometry permits controlled scraping and planar contact with bone, enabling fine contouring and debridement while minimizing collateral soft-tissue trauma.
