Clinical Application
Used to achieve controlled mechanical dilation of the cervical canal prior to intrauterine procedures. Commonly employed in operating room and outpatient settings for dilation and curettage, hysteroscopy access, placement or removal of intrauterine devices, and other gynecologic interventions that require graduated cervical enlargement. The 23/24 mm diameters accommodate patients requiring larger-caliber dilation or as the final step in a graduated dilation sequence.
Design & Configuration
The double-ended Hegar design provides two adjacent diameters in a single instrument for efficient progression during dilation without frequent instrument changes. The instrument's straight, cylindrical profile with a smooth, slightly tapered leading end facilitates controlled, atraumatic passage through the cervical canal. A polished surface reduces surface friction and helps minimize tissue trauma and resistance during placement and withdrawal.
