Clinical Application

Designed for controlled mechanical dilation of the cervical canal, this Hank dilator (Fig. 17/18) is used during gynecologic procedures that require atraumatic cervical access—examples include dilation and curettage (D&C), hysteroscopy, uterine sounding, and intrauterine device (IUD) procedures. The two working diameters permit selection of the most appropriate size for progressive dilation or single-step dilation depending on clinical need.

Design & Configuration

The double-ended configuration provides two closely sized working tips (8.5 mm and 9 mm) in a single instrument, reducing instrument changes and improving workflow in the operative field. Each end features a smooth, tapered profile and rounded tip geometry to permit gradual, controlled dilation with minimal trauma to the cervical epithelium. A straight, polished shaft offers tactile feedback to the operator and facilitates easy insertion and orientation under direct visualization or palpation.
