Clinical Application
Used to dilate and calibrate the urethra and to facilitate catheter passage in urologic procedures. The instrument is indicated for controlled progressive dilation in patients with urethral narrowing or when tactile assessment of lumen caliber is required prior to instrumentation. Common settings include outpatient urology clinics, operating rooms for endoscopic procedures, and catheter management in perioperative care.
Design & Configuration
The tapered, smooth rounded tip allows atraumatic entry into the urethral meatus and provides predictable progression through the urethral lumen. A single-ended, semi-rigid sound geometry offers sufficient axial rigidity for controlled dilation while preserving tactile feedback to detect areas of resistance. The straight profile and polished surface reduce mucosal drag during insertion and withdrawal, supporting safer and more efficient dilation and guide functions for placement of catheters or scopes.
