Clinical Application
Gross–Maier dressing forceps are intended for secure handling and placement of dressings, sponges, packs and other wound care materials during operative procedures and bedside care. The broad-tip design provides reliable purchase on gauze and swabs without concentrating pressure on small areas, making these forceps useful in general surgery, emergency care, wound management, dermatology and minor-procedure settings. They are not designed for fine toothed tissue fixation or bone work.
Design & Configuration
The straight shaft offers direct line-of-sight control and precise tip alignment when reaching into wounds or cavities. Broad, serrated jaws distribute pressure across dressings to reduce tearing and slippage. The absence of a ratchet lock (without ratchet) allows rapid manual release and repositioning of material, which is advantageous during packing, sponge exchange, or when quick disengagement is required.
