Clinical Application
This blunt uterine scoop is intended for mechanical removal and sampling of endometrial tissue, retained products of conception, and soft intrauterine debris during dilation and curettage (D&C), postpartum evacuation and diagnostic endometrial sampling. The blunt scoop is used when a less-aggressive, atraumatic instrument is preferred over sharp curettes for scraping or en bloc removal of soft tissue from the uterine cavity.
Design & Configuration
The spoon-shaped blunt bowl provides a broad, rounded surface for controlled sweeping and scooping of intrauterine material while minimizing focal cutting edges. A 14 mm scoop diameter offers a balance between tissue capacity and maneuverability in a typical adult uterine cavity; a 28 cm overall length provides sufficient reach for transvaginal access in standard gynecologic procedures. Smooth contours and a continuous shaft-scoop transition promote atraumatic contact with the endometrium and facilitate tactile feedback during tissue retrieval.
