Clinical Application
This self-retaining, single-point retractor is designed to provide hands-free retraction of wound edges and superficial tissues during small- to moderate-depth procedures. It is commonly used to maintain exposure in orthopedic soft-tissue dissections, neurosurgical and spinal approaches, ENT and head & neck procedures, plastic surgery, and minor general surgical cases. The focused point retraction produced by the tines is useful when precise separation of tissue planes is required and where wide-field exposure is not necessary.
Design & Configuration
The bilateral, outward-curving single tines create localized, radial retraction that spreads wound edges evenly while minimizing bulk within the field. The Loktite locking mechanism secures the instrument in the spread position to maintain consistent tension without continuous manual holding, allowing surgical assistants to focus on other tasks. At 18 cm overall length, the geometry is suited to moderate-depth exposures where a longer arm would be obtrusive and a shorter instrument would limit access. Because the tips are pointed, careful placement is required to avoid undue tissue trauma—ideal for controlled, focal retraction rather than wide-area blunt spreading.
