Clinical Application
Designed to provide a secure airway through a tracheostomy stoma, this 18 FG instrument is intended for use when direct nasal or oral intubation is not appropriate or when a stoma-based airway is required for prolonged ventilatory support, secretion management, or pulmonary toilet. Size (18 FG) corresponds to a smaller adult / older pediatric lumen profile and is selected to balance patient anatomy with ventilation and suctioning needs.
Design & Configuration
The Fuller Fig. 1 configuration follows a curved airway profile that aligns with tracheal anatomy to minimize mucosal contact and pressure at the stoma. The geometry helps maintain a stable intratracheal position while allowing access for suction catheters and connection to breathing circuits. A low-profile bedside orientation facilitates secure fixation at the neck and reduces torque on the stoma during patient movement or transport.
Instrument Specifications
