Clinical Application
Designed for locating, probing and drawing sutures or probes through fistulous tracts, this hook is useful when controlled traction and secure capture of a thread or probe are required. It is commonly employed in procedures addressing fistula-in-ano, perianal and other soft-tissue fistula surgeries where access into a narrow tract and gentle manipulation are needed. The instrument facilitates passing suture material or guide wires through a tract with minimal additional tissue disruption.
Design & Configuration
The Fig.5 configuration features a dedicated hook tip geometry that secures sutures and probes while resisting slippage during retrieval. The 22 cm shaft length provides extended reach to access deeper or less-exposed tracts without encroaching on the operative field. A slender shaft profile minimizes tissue displacement while the hook tip permits controlled one-handed manipulation for probing, traction and suture transfer.
