Clinical Application
This curved Dittel dilating bougie is intended for controlled luminal dilation and calibration of esophageal strictures and narrowings. At 12 Fr and 34.5 cm length, it is sized for negotiating tighter lumens and for use when a relatively small-caliber dilator is required. It can be used during diagnostic endoscopy, bougie-guided dilation procedures, or as a guide for safe placement or exchange of feeding tubes and other intraluminal devices under direct or fluoroscopic guidance.
Design & Configuration
The curved geometry follows the natural oropharyngeal–esophageal axis to facilitate atraumatic advancement past the upper esophageal sphincter and into the cervical and thoracic esophagus. A tapered, atraumatic tip reduces mucosal catch and allows progressive passage through tight strictures. The 34.5 cm working length provides reach sufficient for proximal and mid‑esophageal applications while the 12 Fr diameter is suitable for initial dilation or for use in smaller adult or pediatric anatomies where minimal profile is required.
Instrument Specifications
- Instrument type: Dilating bougie (Dittel pattern)
- Configuration: curved
- Size: 12 Fr
- Length: 34.5 cm
- Tip: tapered atraumatic tip for mucosal protection
- Typical use: esophageal dilation, lumen calibration, guide for tube placement
- Reusable: designed for repeated clinical use with appropriate reprocessing
Material & Construction
Constructed for reusable clinical use and designed to withstand routine reprocessing per facility protocols. The tapering and flexibility of the working tip are engineered to balance trackability with atraumatic passage through stenotic segments.
Quality & Compliance
Manufactured by FDA-registered OEM facilities and produced under strict quality control standards.
Brand Comparison
