Clinical Application
Designed for atraumatic probing and exploration of the biliary tract during cholecystectomy and common bile duct procedures. The instrument is used to identify and negotiate the cystic duct and common bile duct, to localize and mobilize gallstones, and to assist placement of guide wires or retrieval devices during duct exploration.
Design & Configuration
The Fig.3 configuration pairs a slender, elongated shaft with a fine, atraumatic probe tip to permit smooth passage along luminal surfaces without cutting. The 28 cm working length provides adequate reach from typical operative positions to access the cystic duct and proximal common bile duct. The smooth, uniform shaft preserves tactile feedback for the surgeon and allows adjunct instruments to be used alongside the probe for retrieval or cannulation maneuvers.
