Clinical Application
Designed for atraumatic dilation of small-caliber vessels and for facilitating introduction of cannulae, probes, catheters, or graft ends during vascular procedures. The 1.0 mm tip diameter targets very small peripheral or microvascular lumens encountered in peripheral vascular surgery, microsurgical vessel preparation, dialysis access work, and select cardiothoracic or endovascular access steps. Surgeons use this style of dilator when a controlled, blunt dilatation is required to reduce risk of intimal injury during cannulation or surgical anastomosis preparation.
Design & Configuration
The long, tapered shaft provides gradual dilation over its length, allowing the operator to advance the instrument with fine control and minimal shear forces at the vessel wall. A rounded atraumatic tip reduces the likelihood of intimal tears while creating or enlarging a luminal passage. The 35 cm overall length gives extended reach for procedures that require deeper access or when working beyond superficial vessels, enabling a single instrument to be used in a range of anatomic locations without excessive manipulation.
