Clinical Application
Designed for otologic and general ENT procedures, this hook provides controlled retraction of the auricle and soft tissues to expose the external auditory canal, tympanic membrane, and post-auricular field. Common uses include canal debridement, exposure during tympanoplasty or myringotomy, assistance with middle ear access via post-auricular approaches, and positioning of the pinna during outpatient ear procedures. The 16 cm length gives additional reach for deeper or recessed fields while maintaining a low-profile working line.
Design & Configuration
The Fig. 2 curvature creates a defined angulation that retracts the auricle and soft tissue away from the surgical field without excessive bulk in front of the operative site. A single hook tip concentrates retraction at a narrow footprint, improving visualization and allowing a second hand or instrument to work alongside. The elongated shaft provides increased reach for cases where access must be maintained through a small incision or when working with deeper canal anatomy.
