Clinical Application
This bivalved vaginal speculum is designed to provide atraumatic exposure of the vaginal canal and cervix for routine pelvic examinations, Pap smear collection, cervical inspection, and minor in-office gynecologic procedures. The 85 x 17 mm size is appropriate when a narrower blade profile and moderate opening are preferred, such as in patients with a smaller introitus or when more focused access to the cervix is required.
Design & Configuration
The Cusco-style geometry features two opposing blades that open to retract the anterior and posterior vaginal walls. A lateral locking screw secures the blades at the desired aperture, allowing hands-free access during specimen collection or instrument use. Flat-ended blades provide broad, even tissue contact to minimize pinching and distribute pressure along the vaginal mucosa, improving patient comfort and exposure control during examination or minor treatment.
