Clinical Application
Designed to provide controlled, atraumatic exposure of the anterior nasal cavity, this speculum facilitates direct visualization and instrument access for diagnostic and operative ENT procedures. Common applications include septoplasty, anterior turbinate reduction, polypectomy, foreign body removal, intra-nasal suturing, and office-based nasal examinations. The secure retention feature supports single-operator use and stable field exposure during endoscope insertion, suction, or instrumentation.
Design & Configuration
The Cottle pattern features two opposing blades that separate the nasal vestibule to maximize anterior chamber exposure. A side-mounted screw allows incremental adjustment and locking of the blades at the desired aperture, providing stable retraction without continuous manual force. The supplied dimensions—90 mm and 14 cm—allow selection for procedures requiring broader anterior exposure and extended reach. The instrument geometry reduces soft tissue trauma while maintaining a clear line of sight for the surgeon.
