Clinical Application
Designed for anterior nasal cavity exposure and retraction, this speculum provides stable visualization during diagnostic nasal examinations, anterior septal procedures, foreign body removal, and many rhinologic or otolaryngology minor procedures. The instrument permits direct line-of-sight access for inspection, instrumentation, suction, and topical treatment in the vestibule and anterior nasal chambers.
Design & Configuration
The Cottle pattern features opposing blades that expand the nares when opened. A side-mounted screw mechanism allows the operator to incrementally set and lock the desired blade separation, maintaining consistent exposure without continuous manual pressure. A 50 mm jaw span gives broad, evenly distributed retraction, while the 14 cm overall length provides adequate reach and control for typical anterior intranasal work. The geometry supports one-handed positioning and frees the other hand for endoscopy, suction, or instrumentation.
