Clinical Application
Provides atraumatic lateral retraction of the nasal vestibule and anterior nasal cavity to improve visualization and access during otolaryngology examinations and procedures. Common uses include diagnostic anterior rhinoscopy, septoplasty assistance, turbinate inspection/reduction, foreign body removal, and exposure for limited anterior nasal procedures performed in clinic, ambulatory surgery centers, or the operating room. The 75 mm blade separation accommodates moderate dilation for most adult anterior nasal cavities.
Design & Configuration
The Cottle-style double-blade, hinged design produces symmetric lateral retraction of the nostril with direct tactile feedback to the operator. The 14 cm length gives sufficient reach for anterior work while remaining compact for office or OR use. A handheld configuration allows the surgeon or assistant to incrementally open the blades to optimize exposure without converting to a self-retaining setup, facilitating quick adjustments during examination or short procedures.
