Clinical Application
Designed for use in cardiac surgery to provide atraumatic retraction and consistent exposure of the left atrium during procedures such as atriotomy, mitral valve repair/replacement, left atrial appendage procedures, and exposure of pulmonary vein ostia. The left-oriented blade facilitates lateral displacement of atrial tissue to optimize visualization of intracardiac structures for the operating surgeon and assistants.
Design & Configuration
The left-oriented configuration positions the blade to retract the left atrial wall away from the surgical field while the 23 cm overall length gives reach into the mediastinum without excessive handle bulk at the incision. The 45 x 48 mm blade footprint distributes retraction forces over a broad area to reduce focal tissue pressure and improve exposure. The geometry is intended to permit stable, controlled retraction under direct visualization during median sternotomy or comparable approaches.
