Clinical Application
This Cobb-type spinal elevator is designed for subperiosteal elevation and controlled soft-tissue reflection during posterior spinal exposures. The broad 32 mm blade is useful for elevating periosteum, loosening adherent soft tissue from lamina or transverse processes, and levering small bone fragments during lumbar, thoracic and cervical procedures where a robust, wide working surface is needed.
Design & Configuration
The instrument's long 28 cm shaft provides reach into deep or narrow exposures while maintaining tactile control at the handle. The Cobb-style broad, spoon-shaped blade distributes contact force across a wider surface, reducing point pressure on bone and soft tissue and enabling efficient subperiosteal stripping. The blade geometry facilitates controlled levering and can be used flat for sweeping motions or on edge for more focused dissection.
