Clinical Application
Designed for spinal exposure and soft-tissue management, this Cobb-type elevator is used to develop subperiosteal planes, elevate periosteum and paraspinal soft tissues, and assist in exposing lamina, facet joints and transverse processes. The 12 mm blade provides a broad contact surface for controlled blunt and sharp dissection during posterior cervical, thoracic and lumbar approaches, spinal decompression and fusion procedures.
Design & Configuration
The Cobb blade profile—broad with a slight curvature—allows the surgeon to engage and lift periosteum or soft tissue across a wider area, reducing focal pressure and helping preserve tissue integrity. The 28 cm shaft length gives additional reach for deeper exposures while maintaining tactile feedback. The blade geometry permits both blunt elevation when used flat and sharper dissection when used on edge, making the instrument versatile in tight posterior corridors.
