Clinical Application
This center blade is a replacement component for the Alan Parks style proctologic retractor system. It is intended to provide controlled midline retraction and sustained exposure of the anorectal canal and perianal tissues during proctologic procedures such as hemorrhoidectomy, fistulotomy, mucosal repairs and sphincter reconstruction. Surgeons use the center blade to centralize and elevate tissue for direct visualization of the operative field and to facilitate use of lateral blades and ancillary instruments.
Design & Configuration
The blade is supplied as a single, detachable center element that attaches to the retractor frame. A dedicated center blade concentrates retraction force along the midline, improving visualization of the canal and allowing fine adjustment of depth and pitch when assembled with the frame. Supplying the center as a replaceable component permits quick exchange in the OR without replacing the entire retractor assembly, and supports modular configuration of blade height and curvature by the surgical team.
