Clinical Application

This upward-oriented lami-rongeur is designed to remove and contour portions of the lamina and adjacent cortical bone during posterior spinal decompression procedures. Its upward bite is particularly useful when working underneath or behind bony elements—allowing the surgeon to engage and extract small bone chips, create a trough, or trim bone spurs in tight posterior corridors encountered in laminectomy, laminotomy, and microdiscectomy cases.

The upward-curved jaw geometry directs the biting force toward superior-directed tissue, enabling controlled removal of bone while minimizing the need for extensive soft-tissue retraction.
