Clinical Application
Designed for direct visualization and access to the external auditory canal, this 6.0 mm Bruenings speculum provides a controlled lumen for otologic examination, cerumen removal, suctioning, and introduction of small diagnostic or therapeutic instruments. Its diameter and tapered profile make it useful when a balance of field-of-view and atraumatic access is required in narrow to average ear canals.
Design & Configuration
The conical (funnel) geometry centers and directs the visual axis while shielding the canal walls during procedures. A tapered tip permits gradual dilation of the canal entry and facilitates targeted suction or instrument passage through the lumen. The Fig.1 configuration denotes a smaller-diameter pattern that reduces contact with delicate canal skin and helps minimize patient discomfort during brief diagnostic or intervention tasks.
