Clinical Application
This conical Boucheron ear speculum provides a controlled, atraumatic access port to the external auditory canal and tympanic membrane. It is used for diagnostic otoscopy, microsuctioning of cerumen and debris, intraoperative visualization under the operating microscope, and as a working channel for microinstruments during routine ENT and otologic procedures. The 8.0 mm diameter is commonly selected when a larger field of view and instrument access are required.
Design & Configuration
The Boucheron conical geometry centers and dilates the canal to maximize the visual field while minimizing soft-tissue trauma. A smooth, tapered funnel tip facilitates atraumatic entry and alignment with the operating microscope or handheld otoscope. The speculum’s open lumen permits suction, irrigation, or passage of microinstruments without obstructing line of sight, supporting efficient procedural workflow.
