Clinical Application
This instrument is designed to contour and smooth exposed cortical bone intraoperatively. It is used to remove sharp edges, refine osteotomy margins, and create flush bone surfaces prior to fixation, implant seating or soft-tissue closure. Indications include general orthopedics, trauma, podiatry, maxillofacial and select ENT procedures where precise manual rasping of bone is required.
Design & Configuration
The moderate 20 mm working surface offers a balance between surface coverage and tactile control, allowing the surgeon to shape bone with controlled strokes. The 22 cm overall length provides reach into deeper operative fields and better leverage for manual rasping without sacrificing hand control. The elongated shaft geometry reduces the need for repeated repositioning while the rasp texture permits predictable removal of thin bone layers for final contouring.
