Clinical Application
Blunt blades for the Caspar retractor are used to maintain controlled tissue retraction and exposure of the anterior cervical spine during procedures such as anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF), anterior cervical microdiscectomy, and other anterior cervical approaches. The blunt edge provides atraumatic contact with soft tissues and longus colli muscles while creating a stable working corridor for instrumentation, graft placement, and visualization under microscope or loupe magnification.
Design & Configuration
The blade’s rectangular 30x24 mm footprint offers a balanced profile for focal retraction without excessive bulk. A blunt, atraumatic edge distributes pressure across the tissue interface to reduce focal pressure points and minimize soft-tissue trauma. The low-profile geometry facilitates close placement of surgical instruments and fluoroscopic imaging while remaining compatible with standard Caspar-style retractor frames for secure attachment during self-retaining retraction.
Instrument Specifications
- Blade size: 30x24 mm
- Configuration: Blunt, rectangular retraction surface
- Intended use: Anterior cervical exposure (ACDF, discectomy, fusion)
- Compatibility: Designed for use with Caspar-style cervical retractor systems
- Reusable construction for repeated sterilization and clinical use
Material & Construction
Constructed from surgical-grade stainless steel to provide corrosion resistance, dimensional stability, and durability for repeated autoclave cycles. The blunt working edge is finished to reduce tissue snagging and facilitate atraumatic retraction. The blade is supplied as a reusable component intended for repeated use and standard sterilization processing.
Quality & Compliance
Manufactured by FDA-registered OEM facilities and produced under strict quality control standards.
Brand Comparison
Comparable in form and function to equivalent instruments offered by major US medical suppliers.
