Clinical Application
This lateral blade is used to provide sustained lateral retraction during anterior cervical spine procedures, most commonly anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF). When mounted to a Caspar-style retractor frame it displaces soft tissue and musculature laterally to maintain a clear, stable operative corridor to the disc space and vertebral bodies while helping protect adjacent neurovascular structures.
Design & Configuration
The lateral orientation and rectangular contact footprint deliver broad, even tissue distribution across the retraction surface to minimize focal pressure. The 60 x 24 mm contact area balances reach and surface coverage to suit typical cervical exposures without unnecessary bulk. The blade is configured to attach directly to Caspar-style retractor arms, providing secure fixation and stable retraction during discectomy, decompression, interbody work and graft placement.
