Clinical Application
This lateral blade is designed for use with Caspar retractor systems to achieve and maintain lateral soft-tissue and anterior cervical exposure during anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF), corpectomy and other anterior cervical procedures. The blade provides a stable broad footprint for atraumatic retraction of soft tissues, optimizing visualization of vertebral bodies and disc spaces while helping to protect adjacent structures such as the trachea and esophagus when used as part of the retractor assembly.
Design & Configuration
The 60x24mm lateral geometry supplies a low-profile, broad contact surface that distributes retraction force and minimizes point pressure on soft tissues. As a lateral blade, it is configured to mount to the Caspar distractor/retractor interface and to work in concert with opposing blades to maintain a consistent operative corridor. The combination of blade footprint and low profile supports secure soft-tissue displacement while preserving access for instrumentation and imaging during the procedure.
Instrument Specifications
- Instrument type: Lateral blade for Caspar retractor
- Pattern / model: Caspar retractor lateral blade
- Configuration: Lateral attachment blade for distractor/retractor assembly

Material & Construction
Constructed from titanium as indicated in the product name, the blade offers a high strength-to-weight ratio and corrosion resistance suitable for repeated clinical use. Titanium construction reduces instrument weight while maintaining structural rigidity required for reliable retraction. The component is finished for smooth tissue contact and is intended for routine reprocessing and sterilization consistent with reusable surgical instruments.
Quality & Compliance
Manufactured by FDA-registered OEM facilities and produced under strict quality control standards.
Brand Comparison
Comparable in form and function to equivalent instruments offered by major US medical suppliers.
