Clinical Application
This lateral blade is designed for use with the Caspar retractor system to obtain and maintain lateral exposure of the anterior cervical surgical field. It facilitates atraumatic displacement of platysma and deeper soft tissues to expose vertebral bodies and intervertebral disc spaces during anterior cervical discectomy, fusion, and other anterior cervical procedures where controlled, sustained lateral retraction is required.
Design & Configuration
The lateral orientation provides focused side retraction while minimizing interference with the central operative corridor. A 60 mm blade length offers sufficient depth for standard anterior cervical exposures without excessive projection beyond the wound. The blade is configured to mount to the Caspar frame to create a stable, self-retaining retraction assembly, allowing the surgeon unobstructed two‑handed access to the operative site and reducing the need for manual retraction.
