Clinical Application

This lateral retraction blade is intended to be used with a Caspar cervical retractor to maintain and optimize exposure during anterior cervical spine procedures such as anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF). The broad lateral surface distributes retraction force over the soft tissues to reduce focal pressure on skin, platysma and cervical soft-tissue margins while preserving a clear working corridor to the vertebral bodies and disc space. It is appropriate for use when sustained, stable lateral retraction is required during discectomy, interbody graft placement, decompression and anterior plating.
