Clinical Application
This lateral blade is designed to be used with a Caspar retractor system to provide controlled lateral retraction during anterior cervical spine procedures such as anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF). When mounted to the Caspar frame, the blade provides stable, hands-free lateral displacement of soft tissues and musculature to maintain a clear working corridor to the anterior cervical vertebral bodies and discs.
Design & Configuration
The lateral orientation concentrates retraction force along the sidewall of the exposure to optimize visualization of the disc space and vertebral endplates while allowing the opposite side to remain unobstructed. The 50x24 mm footprint balances exposure and tissue preservation: large enough to maintain a reliable field for instrumentation and graft placement, yet compact enough to reduce bulk within the wound. Intended geometry and attachment interface permit secure fixation to Caspar retractor posts to maintain constant tension throughout the procedure.
Instrument Specifications
- Instrument type: Lateral blade for Caspar retractor
- Pattern/model: Caspar retractor lateral blade
- Size: 50x24 mm
- Application: Lateral soft-tissue retraction for anterior cervical spine exposure (ACDF)
- Material: Titanium (TiT)
- Reusable: Yes
Material & Construction
The blade is manufactured from titanium (as indicated by TiT), providing a favorable strength-to-weight ratio and excellent corrosion resistance for repeated clinical use and sterilization cycles. Titanium construction reduces instrument weight while maintaining rigidity needed for sustained retraction. The blade is designed for reuse and routine cleaning and sterilization per facility protocols.
Quality & Compliance
Manufactured by FDA-registered OEM facilities and produced under strict quality control standards.
Brand Comparison
Comparable in form and function to equivalent instruments offered by major US medical suppliers.
