Clinical Application
This lateral blade is designed for use with the Caspar anterior cervical retractor system to provide controlled lateral retraction of soft tissues and musculature during anterior cervical procedures. It maintains consistent exposure of the disc space and vertebral bodies during discectomy, interbody fusion, plate fixation, and other anterior cervical instrumentation procedures, allowing surgeons unobstructed access while minimizing soft-tissue trauma.
Design & Configuration
The lateral orientation is intended to engage and hold soft tissue laterally away from the surgical corridor. The 40 mm dimension is provided to match common Caspar blade sizes for predictable coverage and exposure. The blade’s geometry distributes retraction forces across a broader surface to reduce point pressure on soft tissue and improve visualization at the operative site. Blade mounting interface is configured for attachment to Caspar-style retractor arms to allow secure fixation and adjustability of retraction depth and angle.
